University Students’ Critical Literacy in Their Speaking Skill

Speaking is the way to communicate, say something, express ideas, and make speech orally. Speakers something based on content they have, produced when speakers have critical literacy. The purpose of this research find out investigate literacy demonstrated by students in their speaking performance. This used qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. samples were 5th semester 25 from University Muhammadiyah Tangerang. In collecting data, researcher test interview purposive sampling technique. found that all aspects occurred students’ through speech. High presented more literacy’s indicator than medium low students. had good preparation achieved indicators, middle a little half lack did not achieve indicators. study suggested stages process, especially pre-speaking stage, can help speak stimulate better.
